HyperView separates materials, crops, and surface conditions by their spectra, and reduces the data before it comes down.

Spectral information becomes useful when the collection and calibration support the question being asked. Optical design, detector behavior, illumination, and processing must be considered with the spacecraft and the target. The data path then determines what is retained onboard and what is delivered for analysis.
