Segal Robotics

Autonomous robotics.

Overview

Motion is a component.

Segal Robotics builds the actuators, drives, sensors, and control stacks that move autonomous machines — and the complete systems they add up to. Humanoid assistants, construction and agricultural autonomy, warehouse automation, and maglev logistics. Engineered to deploy, not to demo.

Components come first. Six families, vertically integrated and built to the same tolerance whether they ship inside our own systems or yours — buy a joint, a drive, a sensor, or the whole stack, pre-integrated. One motion stack from a finger joint to a facility-scale maglev line.

ACTUATION

Integrated Actuators

Frameless motor, harmonic or cycloidal gearing, dual encoders, and drive electronics in one sealed joint. 0.5–1,500 Nm peak, back-drivable, closed-loop force control out of the box.

POWER

Servo Drives & Power

Field-oriented servo drives and distributed motor controllers, scaling from 24 V joint drives to 800 V traction inverters. EtherCAT / CAN-FD, 20 kHz current loop, functional-safety power architecture.

PROPRIOCEPTION

Force & Torque Sensing

Joint torque sensors, 6-axis force–torque modules, IMUs, and tactile skin — calibrated as a set, 0.1% full-scale repeatability, so a machine knows what it is touching and how hard.

EXTEROCEPTION

Perception Modules

Depth, LiDAR, and vision modules with on-module fusion — hardware-synced and calibrated to the machine frame, delivering a single clean world model. IP67, rated for site and field.

CONTROL

Motion Controllers & Runtime

Safety-rated edge compute running the Segal motion runtime — compiles a policy or trajectory into coordinated, force-aware torque across every joint. Sub-millisecond whole-body loop, SIL 2 / PLd.

CONVEYANCE

Maglev Movers & Linear Motion

Magnetic-levitation movers and linear motors for contactless in-facility conveyance. Independent movers on shared track, positioned to ± 10 µm — no wheels, belts, or particulate to shed.

Case Studies
DEPLOYED · CONTINUUM

Continuum Line One

First full maglev deployment: 140 independent movers feeding robotic cells across a 60,000 ft² array in Reno, NV — no fixed conveyor, re-routing live around cell load and maintenance windows.

FIELD TRIAL · OPERATOR

Operator Pilot

Bimanual humanoids running kitting and machine-tending alongside staff on a live manufacturing line — Segal integrated actuators and whole-body force control, logged against real takt time.

FIELD TRIAL · EARTHWORK

Earthwork Alpha

Segal actuation and perception driving an additive-construction print gantry for Segal Development — survey to sealed shell with no operator in the cab. Cross-division on one motion stack.

ROADMAP · STEWARD

Steward Trial

Reference architecture for autonomous heavy machinery: high-voltage drivetrain, field-rated perception, and fleet runtime targeting a thousand-hour service interval on full-season harvest duty.

DEPLOYED · COMPONENTS

Joint Catalog

The production component line shipping to outside builders — the same joints and drives inside our systems, available à la carte with full datasheets and the Segal runtime.
