A carrier aircraft takes the rocket to the release point. The launch location is part of the mission, not a fixed range.
Air launch makes the carrier aircraft part of the launch architecture. Carriage, release, separation clearance, ignition, trajectory, and the operating location have to be planned together. The small spacecraft's requirements then connect the airborne sequence with integration, handling, and mission operations on the ground.
