Segal DefenseSupervised mission systems
A human-supervised mission-systems research program connecting sensing, system state, and accountable decisions.

Citadel is the information and oversight layer of the frontier portfolio. Its research brief connects observations, equipment health, permissions, and decision records in a workspace designed around human authority. The emphasis is on understanding and accountability rather than automatic escalation.
A useful mission system must show what is known, what is uncertain, and which person is authorized to act. Citadel explores explainable information presentation, simulation and review, resilient interfaces, and recovery from degraded system conditions at an architectural level.
The program creates a common place to discuss the information interfaces around Solstice, Voltaic, Fieldwall, and Parallax. Initial work is framed around unclassified research objectives, demonstrable interface behavior, and clear boundaries between software assistance and human decisions.
Shared understanding
Observations, system health, and uncertainty are presented together.
Human supervision
Permissions and decision records preserve explicit responsibility.
Review and recovery
Simulation, interface evaluation, and degraded-state review inform development.
Mission set
Five research frontiers. One engineering conversation.
Solstice
High-energy lasers
Voltaic
Electromagnetic systems
Fieldwall
Protection research
Parallax
