A photonic and quantum-sensing research direction for the next generation of defensive awareness.

Research & Development

Segal Defense

Parallax looks beyond conventional sensing by bringing photonics, emerging quantum measurement, and multi-sensor interpretation into the same research conversation. The program’s focus is better knowledge of an environment, together with a clear account of uncertainty.

New measurement methods must earn their place beside established instruments. Calibration, repeatability, environmental sensitivity, and the relationship between a signal and the conclusion drawn from it are central to the research brief. Each method is evaluated with its advantages and limitations visible.

Parallax is intended to connect instrument development with information that people can assess. Research partnerships can address measurement, data quality, system interfaces, and independent evaluation without assuming a fielded capability or a predetermined performance result.

  • Photonic instruments

Optical measurement and the supporting instrument are evaluated as a complete system.

  • Quantum measurement

Emerging methods are investigated through repeatable, evidence-led research.

  • Confidence and uncertainty

The quality and limitations of an observation stay visible to the person interpreting it.
