Axis cuts metal to a tolerance. Three or five axes, for plates, brackets, and the parts a printer should not be asked to finish.
Machining begins with the relationship between the tool, workholding, material, and required geometry. Access, axis configuration, rigidity, and inspection influence the setup. The machine and process are selected around the part, including the surfaces that must be reached and the features that define acceptance.
