Operator is a robot for handling work. The arm, the senses, and the runtime are Segal's. A person stays in charge of the task.

Manipulation connects the tool, the workpiece, perception, and motion in one task. Reach, contact, handling, and the surrounding environment shape the machine. A person's supervisory role and the conditions for intervention are considered with the system's operating sequence.
